Michael Schumacher 'makes first public appearance in 11 years' | F1 | SportMichael Schumacher was reportedly seen in public for the first time in many years as he attended the wedding of his daughter Gina-Maria. Seven-time Formula One world champion Schumacher, who suffered life-changing injuries during a skiing accident in 2013, was said to have been present to see his daughter tie the knot with her new husband Ian Bethke, according to The Mirror. It would mark the first public appearance in many years for Schumacher, witnessing the celebrations at his family's villa in Majorca. Schumacher requires round-the-clock care following his accident in the French Alps over a decade ago, having hit his head on a rock despite wearing a helmet while skiing with his son Mick. He was airlifted to Grenoble Hospital where he underwent two surgical interventions before being placed in a medically induced coma for several months. The 55-year-old later returned to his home at Lake Geneva in September 2014, where he has been cared for by his doting wife Corinna and their team of medical professionals ever since. The F1 legend's condition has largely been kept private ever since, with only a few friends and family able to visit him. Gina-Maria's wedding was considered 'ultra-private' and guests' phones were said to have been left at the door upon arrival, but Schumacher was able to watch his eldest child walk down the aisle in a rare positive health update. The ceremony lasted around half an hour according to Majorcan outlet Ultima Hora, with the newspaper reporting that the couple treated guests to a banquet and a party with a live country music band. The wedding started at around 4.15pm and the bride and groom said 'I do' at around 4.45pm. Gina posted a picture of the newlyweds on her Instagram, captioned: "Forever yes to you, yes forever." Ralf Schumacher, Michael's brother, was among those in attendance despite being kept in the dark over his sibling's care. The ceremony was held at the family's £27m mansion, bought from long-serving Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in 2017. Source link Posted: 2024-10-01 15:23:52 |
