You've been eating Marmite wrong - woman says it shouldn't be 'raw'Marmite is one of the most divisive foods in the UK, and those who love it are usually quite particular about how they like to have it. Do you slather a piece of bread in it? Do you do a thin layer? Some even like to have a dollop in their pasta. But one woman thinks most people have been eating Marmite wrong their entire lives - and she's convinced you shouldn't be eating it 'raw'. Taking to TikTok, content creator Amy Sheppard said: "You have got to stop eating raw Marmite." In the caption of the video, she continued: "This is going to change your Sunday morning Marmite toast... Forever." Amy also said it would likely "blow your mind". So what does she do? Amy went on to share how she likes to make what she calls 'grilled Marmite' or 'baked Marmite'. First she takes two slices of bread, and toasts one side under the grill. On the untoasted side she then spreads a layer of butter, followed by a "nice, thick layer of Marmite". And according to the foodie, it needs to be "thicker than you would normally do". She then places the slices, Marmite side up, back into the grill until they are "golden brown, and crisp and bubbly". She continued: "When you grill it, it doesn't look much different, does it? But the Marmite goes really sticky and gooey, and has this kind-of chewy, caramelised flavour to it. It's so good." Amy even went so far as saying people who don't like Marmite would probably enjoy this. Many Marmite fans couldn't wait to try this out themselves, with one person saying: "I eat Marmite every day for brekky. Going to try this." Another added: "[Be right back], heading to the kitchen to try this immediately." Others shared their own favourite Marmite combinations, which included Marmite, peanut butter and crispy bacon, or Marmite and cheese sandwiches. Another added: "Try poached eggs on Marmite on toast..." while someone else recommended: "Try Marmite on your steak. Cook one side, turn it over then spread it on the cooked side and then leave it to rest as normal mmmm." Source link Posted: 2024-09-24 02:06:24 |
