Real reason Prince Harry is 'unlikely to see King Charles' in London | Royal | NewsPrince Harry will return to the UK later this month to attend a prestigious awards ceremony in London, however, he is unlikely to meet with his father, King Charles, due to one simple reason. The Duke of Sussex will travel to his home country for the fourth time this year to attend the WellChild Awards on September 30. However, the King is expected to be in Scotland, as he, alongside Queen Camilla, are set to attend a special 25th anniversary celebration at the Scottish Parliament on September 28. Charles is expected to stay in the country for a few days after the event, according to the Telegraph, which will greatly narrow the window of him meeting his estranged son. Prince Harry has been the patron of WellChild for more than 16 years. The charity focuses on improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. Harry has attended the WellChild Awards on 12 previous occasions and this year, he will present the Award for Inspirational Child (aged four to six) and deliver a speech. He is also expected to spend time with each winner and their families at a pre-ceremony reception, listening to their stories and helping create lifelong memories. The Duke said: "I am once again honoured to attend this year’s WellChild Awards celebrating the remarkable courage and achievements of children living with complex medical needs." He added: "These incredible young people, along with the dedicated caregivers, nurses, and professionals who tirelessly support them, inspire us all. "It is a true privilege to recognise such extraordinary individuals." The last time Harry met with his father was back in February after he dashed home following Charles's shock cancer diagnosis. The father and son had a brief meeting at Clarence House before Harry returned to the US. Harry also visited the UK for an Invictus Games event, and again in August for Lord Fellowes', his maternal uncle's funeral, however, he did not meet with the King during neither of those trips.
