Urgent Windows 10 alert - 79 reasons to check your laptop settings nowAll Windows 10 users would be wise to check their settings without delay and make sure they are running the very latest version. Microsoft has just released a huge update - called KB5043083 - as part of its Patch Tuesday programme and it's definitely not one to be ignored. A total of 79 bugs have been fixed in this release including four issues that have been given the dreaded "zero-day" rating. For those not up to speed with the latest tech jargon, zero-day basically means that hackers are already aware of these flaws and actively exploiting them. That's why it's so important to check those settings and make sure your PC is safe from attack especially as some of the flaws can allow crooks to gain access system privileges on Windows. "This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system," Microsoft explained in its latest advisory. You can find the full list of big fixes here Due to the critical nature of this release, PCs should be updated automatically but it's still worth checking that your laptop or desktop computer has downloaded and installed it. "Windows 10 automatically downloads and installs updates to make sure your device is secure and up to date. This means you receive the latest fixes and security updates, helping your device run efficiently and stay protected," Microsoft confirmed. However, the Redmond company also explained that although updates are downloaded and installed automatically, they may not be available on all devices at the same time. That's why you can check for things manually as well. To check for updates manually, select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update >, and then select Check for updates. Source link Posted: 2024-09-12 13:18:53 |
