Make brownies faster: Microwave recipe takes only 15 minutes from start to finish

If you’re in the mood for a quick treat but don’t have the time or patience to bake, microwave brownies are the perfect solution.

With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up a batch of gooey, chocolatey goodness in no time.

This recipe simplifies the traditional baking process by using a microwave, making it ideal for those busy days when you need a sweet fix without the hassle of an oven.

It makes eight servings and can be prepped in as little as 10 minutes, with a further five-minute cooking time.

This take on the classic dessert is ideal for those who like them with a fudgy consistency, and it can be served with a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients

150g salted butter

150g caster sugar

One tsp vanilla extract

Two tbsp milk

Two medium eggs, beaten

50g plain flour

75g unsweetened cocoa powder

80g milk chocolate chips

Instructions

Chop the butter into small chunks and place them in a 20 x 20cm microwave-safe glass or ceramic dish. Microwave in 20-second intervals until melted, then swirl the melted butter around the dish to coat the sides before transferring it to a mixing bowl.

Add sugar to the mixing bowl and whisk thoroughly, either by hand or with an electric mixer, until the mixture becomes smooth and well-blended with the melted butter.

In a separate jug, combine the vanilla extract with the milk and beaten eggs. Gradually whisk this mixture into the sugar and butter blend, ensuring each addition is fully incorporated before adding more.

Sift together the flour and cocoa powder, then gently fold them into the batter. Finally, mix in the milk chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the greased dish and spread it evenly with a spatula. Microwave for about five minutes or until the brownies rise and feel slightly firm to the touch.

They may remain a bit soft in the centre, but they will continue to set as they cool.

Transfer the hot dish to a cooling rack and let it cool for at least 20 minutes to firm up.

Cut into 8 squares and store in an airtight container for up to three days.
