Alejandro Garnacho gets into spat with Man Utd supporter before deleting post | Football | Sport

Alejandro Garnacho was involved in a bitter spat with a fan on social media before quickly deleting his comments after Manchester United's defeat to Liverpool. Garnacho started the match but was hooked in the 69th minute with the Red Devils trailing 3-0 at Old Trafford.

After the match, a fan shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Garnacho's missed attempts on goal and the moments he lost possession. It was framed as a skill compilation and carried the teasing tagline: "Alejandro Garnacho - Getafe's next star?"

Garnacho saw the post and decided to hit back at the fan, replying: "Wasting your time making clips for me. Your life so far?" The United winger later deleted his comment.

The Red Devils have been widely slated following their defeat to Liverpool, which saw the Merseyside giants score three goals without reply. United's insipid display has ramped up the pressure on Erik ten Hag's shoulders just three games into the new season.

He signed a new contract over the summer but already looks to be facing a battle to save his job. United chief Omar Berrada threw his support behind Ten Hag after the match but it remains to be seen how long the club's hierarchy will remain patient.

Berrada told the press: "Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we're fully backing him. We're going to continue working very closely to help him get the best results out of the team."

Casemiro was also singled out for criticism after making two errors which led to goals in the first half. He initially gave the ball away with a misplaced pass, allowing Liverpool to open the scoring via Luis Diaz.

Minutes later, the 32-year-old tried to dribble up the pitch but was dispossessed by Diaz, who raced through to double his tally before the break. Roy Keane was seething in the Sky Sports studio as he questioned why Casemiro was not more aware of his surroundings.

"Same old problems," said the former United captain. "Leopards and spots. Man Utd look very open, they got away with the first goal [disallowed]. Mistakes from Casemiro for all his experience. They are all over the place. Casemiro must be aware of what's around him."

Fellow pundit Daniel Sturridge tried to absolve Casemiro of some of the blame, saying: "For me, the second goal, I am not going to put it on Casemiro, there was a lot more to be done."
