The EV energy company Octopus Electric Vehicles has shared the coolest features offered on a number of popular models that owners are saying should be standard on all cars - including driving without using a brake pedal.

Like them or loathe them, electric vehicles now make up a significant part of the new car market, with manufacturers adding all kinds of gimmicks to entice more drivers to make the switch.

Alvin Castillo, Head of Vehicle Procurement at Octopus Electric Vehicles highlighted that a number of the most popular EVs are full of interesting features that make them convenient and entertaining to own.

He explained: "Electric cars are not only better for the planet, but they’re so much fun to drive and spend time in.

"Manufacturers are launching new models monthly, with new players rewriting the rule book on how much cool new tech they can pack in. Think of the smartphone revolution, but on four wheels."

One of the coolest features that Octopus Electric Vehicles noted is on a wide range of models is 'one-pedal driving', with the company noting 19.6 million social media users searching the term on TikTok.

Found on various models from brands such as Volkswagen, Nissan and Tesla or Renault, 'one-pedal driving' activates the regenerative braking system each time the driver takes their foot off the accelerator pedal, steadily slowing the vehicle down.

Whilst it takes a bit of getting used to, 'one-pedal driving' makes for a stress-free experience for motorists, and the range will be slightly higher than using the brake pedal.

A growing number of drivers are also interested in the full-size glass roof on the latest Renault Scenic E-Tech, which Alvin noted can be controlled in a very unique way.

He added: "The Renault Scenic's panoramic glass roof provides the ultimate driving experience.

"With the ability to lighten or darken on demand using voice control, drivers can easily create the perfect atmosphere in their cars for ultimate comfort (and show off to their passengers whilst doing so). Perfect for those long drives through the countryside."

Finally, a more unique feature that motorists can find on an electric car is a hidden musical instrument found within the front doors of a certain model.

The BYD Atto 3 was the first model from the big Chinese company to launch in the UK, and features three guitar-like strings on the door pockets that can actually be played.

These strings help to keep items in the storage pockets stay put, but can be used by passengers to play some simple tunes whilst they are on the move.
