Sneaky pasta recipe 'tricks' picky eaters into eating veg

This pasta dish is secretly packed full of vegetables, meaning picky eaters likely won't notice they are eating healthy food.

Treating picky eaters like toddlers seems to do the trick according to My Fussy Eater on YouTube, who has found a way of smuggling cauliflower into pasta.

She said: "If you struggle to get veggies into your kids, then you're going to love today's recipe. It's a healthy twist on an old family favourite - it's 'Hidden Cauliflower Mac 'n' Cheese'.

"This recipe is perfect for the pickiest of eaters - you can't taste the cauliflower, you can't see it, you can't smell it - it's blended in with the cheese sauce and nobody will know it's even there."

She explained that all you need for this recipe is some dried pasta, a cauliflower, a vegetable stock cube, milk, grated cheddar cheese, butter, dijon mustard, panko breadcrumbs, and cherry tomatoes.

First boiling the macaroni in a pan, Ciara set the pasta away as she began dicing the cauliflower and putting it into its own pan. The vegetable stock cube was added to the cauliflower before it was covered in boiling water and cooked for "about five minutes, until the cauliflower is totally soft.

Once the cauliflower was ready, Ciara drained it and added it to the blender along with milk, grated cheese, dijon mustard and butter. This should turn into a "lovely sauce".

If the sauce is too thick, Ciara says you can "add some extra milk, and if you like you can add some salt and pepper at this stage".

After draining the pasta, the sauce is added and mixed together. It is then transferred to a large dish, or several small dishes where extra cheese and breadcrumbs, as well as a whole tomato, are added. Then cook in the oven for 15 minutes and you're done!

The recipe has delighted YouTube commenters.

One wrote: "Ooooh yummy!! I love cauliflower cheese AND mac n cheese so this sounds heavenly!" Another said: "This is such a good idea my boys aren't too keen on cauliflower, such a good way to get those vegies in xx."

A third joked: "Perfect! It's a must make..looks so delicious! Who said you couldn't trick kids!" Food blogger Ciara added: "My kids love this one, which is great as they usually hate cauliflower!"
