Man City 'reach agreement' to sign West Ham star in surprising summer | Football | SportManchester City and West Ham United have reportedly agreed on a deal that will see Divin Mubama join the Premier League champions. A product of the West Ham academy, Mubama made his Hammers debut in November 2022, but left the club following the expiration of his contract this summer. Despite being a free agent, West Ham were still due a compensation package, which has now been agreed according to Fabrizio Romano, The 19-year-old is Etihad Stadium-bound after a compensation package worth £1.2million was agreed between the two clubs. It's reported a medical at City has been booked for Mubama, who is poised to sign a long-term deal with the Blues. City are believed to see a bright future for Mubama and were said to have 'hijacked' talks that took place between the striker and several clubs. Ligue 1 outfit Lyon and Portuguese club Famalicao were among those rumoured to be interested, while EFL Championship side Sunderland had been linked to his signature in the past. While details about Mubama's role at City are yet to be made clear, it's expected the London-born gem won't feature in Pep Guardiola's first team this season. Instead, the teenager is likely to take up a position in City's Elite Development Squad, with talk of a potential loan move elsewhere next season. That doesn't mean to say City aren't active in what remains of this season's transfer window, with the Premier League champions on the lookout for new additions. Guardiola was quizzed on City's potential transfer activity ahead of Sunday's Premier League opener against Chelsea, with the City boss replying: "Maybe, or maybe not! We'll see I'm really pleased with the squad we have. "I know the vibe is, 'We have to sign! We have to sign!' We will see."
