Olympic gold medallist 'breaks up with his mum' as wild feud erupts in Paris | Other | SportOlympic gold medallist Carlos Yulo has reportedly split with his mother because she disapproves of his Australian-raised girlfriend. The 24-year-old gymnast made history for the Philippines by winning the floor exercise before taking another gold medal in the vault. Upon his return, Yulo will be given a luxury three-bedroom flat as well as a cash prize of £740,000 and a lifetime supply of ramen noodles. However, it seems he will not be sharing any of it with his mother after accusing her of rejecting his girlfriend and taking his money without permission. Yulo is dating Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose, a model who was born in the Philippines but now conforms to an 'Australian way of life'. In a video posted on TikTok, he claimed that his mother 'freaked out' over their relationship and harshly judged Chloe before they had even met. "My mother judged Chloe right away because of how she dressed and acted," said Yulo. "Chloe and I grew up in different environments. Chloe grew up in Australia and that’s the culture she knows. It’s very different from how we move, talk, and dress in the Philippines. "Chloe has her own income. Everything you see her using and all her travels come from her hard work. Ever since the beginning, she didn’t like Chloe, even though she hadn’t met or seen her in person. Our relationship worsened when I started setting boundaries. I stood up for Chloe because I like her." Yulo went on to accuse his mother of taking his prize money from the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2022, claiming that he has proof of funds being withdrawn from his accounts. "My mother had access to my accounts and my monthly sports allowance," he added. "When I finally got control of my accounts, I found out that she had taken money out. I have statements that show all of her withdrawal." His mother has since responded, saying: "The money was given to me. As a mother, I was worried that my child might have financial problems in the future, so I invested it under my name." She also reached out to apologise to Yubo, offering to resolve their differences and repair their broken relationship when he returns home after the Olympics. "Son, I am sorry," said his mother. "I understand some may think I’m only speaking now because of your success. I ask for your forgiveness as a concerned mother. You are mature enough to make your own decisions. "Our door is always open regardless of your financial status. I can’t take back my words, but your father and I are ready to talk with understanding whenever you’re ready to come home and resolve this." Source link Posted: 2024-08-08 17:07:27 |
