How to reverse age: Woman didn’t get wrinkles until her 60s thanks to 30p ingredient

To one youthful grandma, finding the recipe to an ageless visage was a pretty simple and natural process, as she swore by one everyday ingredient.

In fact, her granddaughter claims she did not develop any wrinkles until her 60s and lived until 91 thanks to the 30p item.

She revealed her secret to youthful skin on Reddit’s Skincare Addiction forum, which boasts nearly four million members.

She mentioned that while many factors influence ageing, it is possible to avoid wrinkles even beyond the age of 40.

“My grandmother, who lived to be 91, didn't develop any true wrinkles until her 60s,” she shared, posting under the username LaceyBloomers.

When asked about her secret, her grandmother had simply replied: "Garlic and homemade soups." Garlic is an inexpensive ingredient that can easily be incorporated into various dishes.

A head of fresh garlic is priced at just £0.30 at Sainsbury’s and varies from £1 to £2 per bag at other retailers, including Waitrose.

Healthline states that garlic contains allicin, which provides “anti-fungal, antiviral, and antiseptic properties from allicin”.

The common kitchen ingredient also contains zinc, selenium, copper, vitamin C, and vitamin B6.

Vitamin B6 helps maintain healthy skin by boosting collagen production, while vitamin C, often found in anti-ageing products, is known for its ability to neutralise free radicals and combat UV damage.

The Redditor noted that while genetics can't be controlled, lifestyle choices can be adjusted to preserve youthful skin.

“Don't smoke!” she advised. “Wear sunscreen, cover up whenever you can, and WEAR A WIDE BRIMMED HAT.

“Eat a rainbow: Choose fruits and vegetables that are deep in colour, such as broccoli, carrots, beets, mangoes, romaine lettuce, and other dark leafy greens, blueberries, cherries, etc.

“Produce that's deep or bright in colour contains more antioxidants than others. We need antioxidants to neutralise the free radicals in our bodies.”
