Remove yellow discolouration from pillows with straightforward method - no bleach needed"I'm ashamed to admit that this is one of my pillows," May Sophia Huseyin said, showcasing to YouTube viewers her "very discoloured and yellow" pillow. "Every time I change the sheets, I tell myself I must do something about it, but never actually do... [until now]." Wanting the "quickest and easiest" solution, May decided to try putting her stained pillow in the washing machine with Vanish Oxi Action. "It's a stain remover and whitening compound," said May. "But it's completely bleach-free." Adding a scoop of Vanish Oxi Action to the washing machine drum, May then adds in the stained pillow. She then proceeds to put in detergent "as normal" and another scoop of Vanish Oxi Action in the washing machine drawer. "I'm going to choose a cycle with a pre-wash," May said. "And I think in order for the pillow to be cleaned properly, it's best to do one at a time." While the label on her pillow, from Next, said to wash at 40C, May decided to put hers on a wash at 60C because of how "dirty" her pillow looked. May explained: "Please always follow the manufacturer's guidelines/instructions when using products. "I was happy to take the risk and wash my pillow on a higher temperature than advised as it was inexpensive and easy to replace if necessary." May wasn't sure if the cleaning method would work on the first attempt, but she beamed: "I was pleasantly surprised. "The Vanish has literally removed all of the stains and the yellow discolouration." May then tumble dried the pillow "to ensure it's dried through and regains its fluffiness". Once cleaned and dried, May said she was "really impressed" with the end result. "I just need to do the rest of my pillows now." Alternative methods to clean pillows include using other stain removers, such as M&S Fabric Stain Remover or The Pink Stuff. Natural cleaning methods can include using baking soda and white vinegar to lift stains. If you don't have access to a tumble dryer, it's best to place the wet pillow on a clothesline in order to dry. Source link Posted: 2024-08-02 17:11:19 |
