BCM Mallorca's summer line-up review after iconic venue's overhaul | Music | Entertainment

Coming from rainy England, it's hard to resist guaranteed sunshine and world-famous DJs on the famous Spanish island of Mallorca - the largest of the scenic Balearic Islands.

While the UK offers a plethora of clubs and music venues, few could live up to BCM which was first opened back in 1988 by Mallorca's former "nightlife king" Tolo Cursach who ran the island's night scene for 40 years.

The multi-floor venue, located in the heart of Magaluf, has held the title of the biggest nightclub in Europe and has seen countless DJs from across the globe perform to crowds until the early hours over the decades.

Following something of a hiatus following coronavirus interruptions, BCM is now back doing what it does best with a sleek new look complete with state-of-the-art lighting and stellar special effects for music lovers.

It's safe to say the award-winning club lived up to expectations - possibly exceeding them - due to the incredible new sound system and lavish design of the refurbished venue.

Unlike many music venues, BCM boasts different levels to cater to its guests - with the club selling up to 3,000 tickets per night.

While some guests might want to be dancing all night in front of the DJ, others have the option of sitting above the dancefloor on luxurious sofas while sipping on their drink of choice and soaking up the atmosphere.

The vibrant venue is never in a rush to close, with headliners often starting their sets hours past midnight, and going on to sunrise. The prime time to head inside the venue is around midnight which gives visitors time to familiarise themselves with the club and get ready for the acts.

Last week, guests were treated to a set from Swedish DJ Eric Prydz who is perhaps best known for the naughties dance classic Call On Me.

Canadian electronic music producer Deadmau5 and Love Generation hitmaker Bob Sinclar also performed in recent days as well as BBC Radio 1 regular Danny Howard.

The venue was packed throughout the majority of the week, with crowds flooding through the doors to listen to many of the headline acts of the month.

While waiting for the next act to take to the stage, there are a variety of bars to enjoy a beverage from inside the venue as well as lots of staff on hand if any assistance is needed.

Dancers scattered across the venue are also a sight to behold as they don colourful costumes while moving to the DJ's beat with spectacular choreography to captivate the crowd.

The club also offers VIP experiences as well as an outdoor terrace for those wanting to make the very most of their time in BCM.

Next month brings megastars of the global music scene such as Timmy Trumpet, Martin Solveig, Argy, Meduza and James Hype to name a few.

If an energetic club where guests party until dawn - just as they did in the 1990s and 2000s is for you - I'd recommend giving BCM a try before the summer is over!
