How to make easy water feature in 10 minutes that gardeners claim is genius

Gardens tend to come alive in summer and something that could really give them a boost is to introduce a water feature.

However, water features don’t have to be a huge investment. With just the cost of some standard materials and a little ingenuity on your part, you can make your own.

A DIY fountain can look just as good as a professional one if you have the right designs to follow and that’s where TikTok user @cracktheshutters’s “quickest little garden project” comes in.

The DIY lover showed her viewers how quickly she was able to create her own water feature with just two planters and a few other simple materials and plants.

She started the video by saying: “I did a little garden project which was probably the quickest and easiest project I have done in a very long time.”

Explaining the process, the DIYer said that she had two old planters that she stacked one inside the other on some bricks before filling the outside planter with compost, and then the inside planter with gravel halfway up.

She then added some “lovely” colourful flowers before adding some water to the inside planter.

The TikToker then added white stones in the smaller planter to “brighten up” the feature and placed a solar panel water fountain on top.

Showing the final results, she said she now has a “lovely planter water fountain”. She added: “So quick and easy to do.”

Taking to the comments section, viewers shared their thoughts on this DIY water feature - many adored the idea.

@laceywill wrote: “Absolutely love this! I gave it a go and it was actually easy. Only took me 10 minutes to do. I loved the finished results.”

@robyn247 said: “This looks amazing! I’m so rubbish at gardening but I feel like this is something I could do.”

@josiewhitcombe replied: “This is a genius idea. I will be doing this for my garden.”

However, some viewers expressed some concerns. Terri Ward said: “It’s an awesome idea but when it’s hot that water is going to scold the plants and kill them.”

@poshfiferlassie89 wrote: “A good idea and looks nice but you would have been better drilling holes on the bottom planter because it will fill with water and overwater your plants.”
