Lando Norris digs out McLaren as ultimate pressure placed on team before Hungarian GP | F1 | Sport

Lando Norris has described the criticism levelled at McLaren's recent strategy calls as 'not unfair', putting pressure on the Woking-based team to improve at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Brit has been in a position to win on multiple occasions since breaking his duck in Miami back in May, but six races down the line that tally remains unchanged.

McLaren's most notable strategy error came at the Canadian Grand Prix when the safety car wiped out his impressive lead over Max Verstappen. Then at Silverstone, the British constructor hung his team-mate Oscar Piastri out to dry when he was in a position to challenge for the race win.

Asked by Sky Sports F1 whether the criticism being levelled at his team is unjust, he replied: "No, not at all. It just depends on how you take it. I don't think it's unfair because you're always going to have it. That's life.

"People are going to criticise you, people are going to support you. People are going to make mistakes. We're not the only team... there have been times when Red Bull should have won and didn't, and Mercedes should have won and didn't."

Moving onto the pain of Silverstone, he added: "It's a tough one because it hurts when you lose your home race and you have a chance to win and those types of things. But it's more about how we as a team handled it, how we learned from it.

"We reviewed things and we'll be coming back stronger this weekend and for the future races, so yeah, plenty of things to learn. But I'm confident with our team. I think we always accept criticism and especially when it's constructive."
