Wimbledon LIVE: Ex-champion won't be allowed in as Novak Djokovic provides injury update | Tennis | Sport

The subject of Novak Djokovic's health status has been one of great mystery over recent weeks.

The Serbian ace boosted the hopes of all tennis fans earlier in the month by releasing a video of his return to training, in which he looked sharper and more fine-tuned than ever before.

Yet days later Djokovic would pour confusion over everything, by insisting he had not yet decided whether he would feature at Wimbledon.

Alas, the surgery appears to have gone perfectly and now the tennis icon is singing a much sweeter tune.

Djokovic has confirmed that he is now "pain free" ahead of SW19.

After he played an exhibition match with Danill Medvedev, Djokovic admitted: "I can tell you I enjoyed myself really, really much. I can tell you that pain-free tennis is the best tennis. I was pain free and I’m really glad. It was a great test obviously against one of the best players in the world.

"I’ve played a couple of practice sets but I really wanted to test myself. The test was very successful so I’m obviously really glad. It’s been an intense three weeks after surgery, spending a lot of hours rehabbing.”
