Man Utd 'set Mason Greenwood price tag' as two replacements identified | Football | Sport

Manchester United have reportedly slapped a price tag on the unwanted Mason Greenwood, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe eyes a quick sale to raise funds for new arrivals.

Greenwood is expected to depart Old Trafford on a permanent transfer this summer, having spent last season out on loan at Getafe.

The Manchester-born forward registered 16 goal contributions in 36 matches for the Spanish side, with several clubs across the continent rumoured to be interested.

Lazio have reportedly opened talks with United about a transfer, while fellow Serie A sides Napoli and Juventus are also mooted as potential destinations.

Greenwood’s contract is set to run until the summer of 2025, but with no route back into the United squad, the three-time European champions are looking to cash in.

It’s reported by the i that the Red Devils are demanding a fee in the region of £30million for the attacker, who originally joined United as a six-year-old.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 following attempted rape and assault allegation, but the charges were dropped in February 2023. Greenwood has always denied these charges.

United won’t hang about in the transfer market though, with the Premier League giants expected to reinvest the Greenwood funds.

Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as their ideal replacement, as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Ten Hag is looking to add a centre-forward option to his side in an attempt to lighten the workload on Rasmus Hojlund, who featured in 43 matches across all competitions last season.

Zirkzee found the net on 12 occasions last term while providing a further six assists for his Bologna team-mates, as the Italian outfit secured shock qualification for the Champions League.

Reports suggest United have fended off interest from AC Milan, with Ten Hag’s side now the front-runners to land Zirkzee.

But if their pursuit for the Dutch international fails, Jonathan David is another name rumoured to be on their shortlist.

Despite making his professional debut six years ago, David is still just 24 years old, with the Canadian having netted 84 goals in 183 matches for Lile.

United aren’t alone in their interest for David, with Chelsea - as well as West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur - also taking a liking to the Canadian.

Part of that is because David has entered the final year of his contract at Ligue 1 Lile and reports claim he could be available for less than £30million.
