Scotland fans have not let the terrible weather dampen their Euro spirits as they turned rainy Cologne into a dance party.

Steve Clarke's side take on Switzerland in their second match of Euro 2024 on Wednesday, with thousands of fans gathering in the city to cheer them on.

Despite two fan zones in Cologne being closed today due to severe weather this has not stopped fans celebrating.

Tartan Army revellers were spotted dancing along the German city’s rainy streets ahead of the national team’s second group stage fixture in the 50,000-capacity home of FC Köln.

As the countdown began, some fans could be seen sheltering under their Scotland flags and squeezing under brollies as the rain belted down.

But others embraced the rain - and even whipped their shirts off to frolic in the rain. 

Cologne city officials said on social media: "Cologne, it's going to be uncomfortable, the German Weather Service (DWD) has predicted severe weather, heavy thunderstorms and storms for today, Tuesday. Therefore, we have to cancel all events for today! We hope that we can celebrate together again tomorrow, Wednesday! Take care of yourselves!"

Some people covered up with hats and waterproofs whilst others braved the typical Scottish weather in kilts and T-shirts.

A large Scotland flag was seen covering one of the German streets where children were seen to be playing football.

Located in the heart of the German city, Papa Joes Biersalon has been filled with thirsty Scots well before their beloved team take to the field against Switzerland. 

Barmaid Mariya Faler, 25, said she had been really impressed with the Scotland fans who’d flocked to the bar in kilts and football shirts.

“They've been nice,” she told the Express. “Mostly we're used to different things from the UK.” 

Mariya said there had already been a lot of banter with Scottish customers wearing kilts, and added: “I like to make jokes with my customers and I know its the tradition [for men not to wear underwear under their kilts] so I would ask ‘so how is it under there?’ 

“Some of them would be like ‘oh, I'm married, I can show you this much’ and they would pull it up from the side to show their leg, it was very funny.”
