King Charles will have a new vantage point at this year’s Trooping the Colour | Royal | News

King Charles will be arriving to this year’s Trooping the Colour by carriage, which has its benefits, says one royal watcher.

Charles was hoping to lead the parade on horseback, but his doctors advised against it because of the high temperatures that come with June.

Instead, he and Queen Camilla will travel the Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, where the troops will then be inspected.

While traveling by carriage may not have been Charles’s first choice, it’s a good choice, according to Royally Obsessed’s Roberta Fiorito.

Ms Fiorito said: “The king will officially be in a horse-drawn carriage, horseback is out for him, but this is unique, he will be beside Camilla.”

She added: “He usually is on horseback, so I think for them to parade through the crowds together will be special.”

“And such good images too, I’m sure, of both of them in the back of that state carriage, that will be really, really nice to see.”

Trooping the Colour, also known as the King’s Birthday Parade, kicks off tomorrow at 10:20am. It’s a day for the nation to celebrate the monarch’s birthday and put a spotlight on the military.

There will be 1400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians all marching. It’s expected to last approximately two and half hours, coming to an end shortly after the flyover.

We spoke to Brittani Barger, co-founder of Royal News, who said: “Probably the most well-known part of the day is the balcony appearance when the monarch and Royal Family appear on the balcony to wave to the people and to watch the fly past by the Royal Air Force.

And now that Charles will be arriving by carriage, versus horseback, possibly he can sit back and relax and enjoy the day. He will have a front row seat to all of the people lining the street and showing up to cheer him on.

In addition to the public, Charles’s family will be joining him, including Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, are also expected to be in attendance.
