Hot weather conditions are likely to make a comeback to the UK as the latest weather maps show the exact date when the cold spell could finally end. Weather maps show Britain could witness settled conditions with 26C lasting for 48 hours from June 25 to 27.

Temperature levels are likely to soar to 26C in southern parts of the country as an Iberian plume moves towards the continent.

Areas around Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Manchester, and Newcastle are likely to bake under the sizzling temperatures for 48 hours, maps suggest.

Even the Scottish cities will see high-temperature levels as warmer air moves towards the country.

The hot weather predictions come as the country grapples through an interchangeable season with several areas witnessing wet and windy conditions.

People across the country have been left disappointed with the weather in June due to bouts of rain and thunderstorms. Temperature levels have remained below average in many parts of the country this month.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for the period June 17 and 26 reads: “At first, the weather across the UK is likely to continue to be a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, with some longer spells of rain also possible.

“Some showers are expected to be heavy and could be thundery at times. Temperatures will generally be around or a little below normal for mid-June, and it may well be breezy in places too. Through the weekend and into the following week, confidence in any particular weather pattern dominating becomes low.

“As such, the best forecast is for fairly typical June weather, with a mixture of weather types.

“This means some spells of drier, sunny weather but also some showers or longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures will most likely be close to or slightly below average.”

Today:

A bright but rather cool day for the time of year. Mostly dry with sunny spells for many, mostly in the west. Scattered showers, some being heavy for a time, focussed in the east.

Tonight:

A few showers in the far northeast. Elsewhere, dry with sunny spells but chilly in rural spots with an isolated grass frost. Turing cloudy in the west by dawn.

Thursday:

Outbreaks of rain pushing northeastwards across the UK through Thursday, accompanied by brisk winds in the southwest. Driest areas will be in the east but rain arriving later.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Sunny spells and heavy, thundery showers through Friday and Saturday. Staying rather cool and breezy.
