De Jong’s unorthodox stunner

Jesper De Jong proved that he was one to watch as he caused Carlos Alcaraz some trouble in their second-round match, stealing a set. The world No. 176 got into the draw as a qualifier but he certainly left an impression on Alcaraz and the crowd with one of his shots, inverting his wrist so he hit a backhand at something of a backwards angle.

“Yeah, he did it. I have seen these kind of shots, but it's unusual to see it. So it was kind of frustrating, let's say, you know, when I lost that point,” Alcaraz smiled when asked about the hot shot. “But the points that we did see, I think he did it much better than me today. But yeah, it was a good shot.”
