Inside Man Utd's FA Cup party as Hojlund gets boozy and Ten Hag mocks Fernandes | Football | Sport

Manchester United’s celebrations lasted long into the night as they marked beating Manchester City to win the FA Cup. Players shared pictures and videos onto social media as Erik ten Hag’s side basked in their success at a plush venue.

Head coach Ten Hag was particularly jubilant. The Dutchman poked fun at captain Bruno Fernandes in front of the squad.

Ten Hag and Bruno took to the stage to make a speech with the FA Cup trophy. Scott McTominay yelled “Bruuuno”, prompting Ten Hag to quip: “Hey Scott, Bruno asked me if I want to speak. Normally, he speaks only!”

McTominay appears to have spent much of the night with striker Rasmus Hojlund. The duo belted out Sweet Caroline on the coach journey to the venue alongside technical director Darren Fletcher, goalkeeper Tom Heaton and defender Jonny Evans. Harry Maguire shared a sneak peak of the song to his Instagram story.

Back at the venue in the north west of England, Maguire posed for a photo with McTominay and a beaming Hojlund and shared it with the caption: “Who’s celebrating?”

Victory over City sealed Hojlund’s first trophy in English football. The Denmark international enjoyed his night and was seen dancing to ABBA’s Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

Hojlund hopped across the dancefloor to join Amad Diallo and Andre Onana, who were signing autographs for a young fan. Goalkeeper Onana joined Hojlund in dancing to the tune.

Players welcomed their families into the function room. Kobbie Mainoo, scorer of United’s second in the 2-1 triumph, was seen with Love Island star brother Jordan Mainoo-Hames. There were also celebrities in attendance, including YouTuber iShowSpeed.

Speed took snaps with Alejandro Garnacho, who scored the first goal against City, and Ten Hag. the 19-year-old, whose actual name is Darren Watkins, joked about an online meme with Onana before attempting to replicate Garnacho’s bicycle kick against Everton earlier in the season.

It was an emotional day for Ten Hag, whose future hangs in the balance despite the success. In the 54-year-old’s favour is that the Red Devils will play in the Europa League next season.

Asked about his future, Ten Hag insists he inherited a ‘mess’ when he joined and pointed out that he has won two trophies at Old Trafford. He said: “I don’t think about this. I am in a project. We are exactly where we want to be. We are constructing a team.

“When I took over it was a mess. The team is developing and winning. It is about winning trophies. The team plays to an identity. You need a strong squad.

“You need players available and there is a lot of work to do. The team is progressing and we are winning trophies. Two trophies in two years is not bad. I am not satisfied. If they don’t want me any more I will go [somewhere else] to win trophies because that is what I do in my whole career.”
