Prince Harry and Meghan Markle alarmingly silent on wedding anniversary | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's sixth wedding anniversary quietly passed by, with neither the couple nor the Royal family publicly acknowledging the occasion.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot six years ago yesterday (May 19) in a grand ceremony in Windsor, followed by an exclusive evening reception.

However, it seems that any celebrations this year have been kept under wraps, with no social media tributes from the couple.

Not only have Harry and Meghan remained silent on their anniversary, but the Royal Family has also refrained from marking the occasion.

The Sussexes, who stepped back from Royal duties in 2020, appear to have been overlooked by Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, as well as other members of the Royal Family, none of whom have shared any memories or tributes from the event six years ago.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's extravagant Royal Wedding took place at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, with a reception hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House in Home Park.

Of the original 2,640 guests invited into Windsor Castle, only 200 were granted special access to the most private part of the day - the evening reception, reports the Mirror.

A Royal commentator has suggested that had Princess Diana been alive, Harry and Meghan might never have tied the knot.

In a conversation on Times Radio earlier in March, Dickie Arbiter, a veteran commentator of the British Royal Family and former press spokesman for Queen Elizabeth II from 1988 to 2000, mulled over the potential influence of the late Princess.

"If Diana had been alive, I'm going to stick my neck out here, and I doubt Harry would have married Meghan."Arbiter added, "Diana was very careful about her boys, they were her boys. She protected them, and she would have protected them against anybody she felt wasn't the right person."

The commentary then shifted to Harry's past love life, referring to his several former girlfriends who didn't fancy living life like "be in the goldfish bowl". Yet, as per Arbiter, Harry desired a family life similar to his elder brother's - a marriage and children.

He added: "My own personal opinion is that he rushed into the marriage."

He proposed that Harry's current situation could have been different had Diana been alive, speculating that Diana could have put a "question mark over it".
