Anti-ageing method used by Kate Moss and Joan Crawford is free and makes skin 'tighter'

On TikTok, the hashtag #icefacial has garnered over 600 million views, showcasing individuals submerging their faces in ice water-filled sinks or gently applying ice cubes across their skin.

So what exactly is an ice facial and what does it do?

An ice facial involves applying ice or very cold water to the face to rejuvenate the skin and reduce puffiness.

It's believed to constrict blood vessels, tighten the skin, and promote circulation, leading to a more refreshed and youthful appearance.

Some people also use ice facials to reduce inflammation, minimise pores, and soothe irritated skin.

The method can vary, from simply rubbing an ice cube over the face to submerging the face in ice water or using specialised ice rollers or globes.

Chris Bustamante, an aesthetic nurse practitioner and founder of Lushful Aesthetics in New York, told HuffPost that ice facials can make your skin look “tighter” and more hydrated, diminish redness and temporarily minimise pores.

He added: “By reducing that superficial blood flow to the face, redness is reduced and pores look minimized.”
