Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tipped to visit this country on new 'unofficial royal tour' | Royal | News

and are set to visit Nigeria later this month in what critics are calling an "unofficial royal tour", and it has led to speculation about where they might go next.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are heading to Nigeria after accepting an invitation from Christopher Gwabin Musa, the country's chief of defence staff, who asked the pair to take part in "cultural activities" in the nation.

But Harry and Meghan have their own reasons for visiting Nigeria.

In 2022, the Duchess revealed on their podcast Archetypes that she had learned she was 43 percent Nigerian following a genealogy test.

Harry's mother Princess Diana also visited Nigeria with Harry and Prince William's father, King Charles, in the early 1990s.

James Leyfield, TV betting expert for Gambling.com, revealed the latest odds on where betters believe the couple will head to next, after Nigeria.

Norway has come out on top with a probability score of 33.3 percent, according to bookmakers.

Leyfield said: "While Norway is renowned for being cold in certain parts, the country is the 2/1 hot favourite with the bookies to be Harry and Meghan's next visit of choice, on their so-called 'unofficial royal tour'."

"Norway also provided a first for Harry's late mother Diana. The Princess embarked on her first solo overseas tour in Norway in February 1984, when she attended a performance of Carmen by the London City Ballet, of which she was Patron, so an upcoming return would appear to make sense for the Duke and Duchess."

Australia and New Zealand are the second favorites, with a probability of score of 25 percent, followed by Itally on 20 percent.

Leyfield explained: "Diana also headed on a tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1983 with Charles and an infant Prince William, and the former royal couple went to Australia for the bicentenary celebrations in 1988.

"Harry and Meghan are no strangers to the country either, after heading there in October 2018 for their first official royal tour since tying the knot in May 2018. Harry and Meghan underwent 76 engagements during their time in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, while Meghan was pregnant with Archie, who was born on May 6, 2019.

"The pair may want to head back Down Under on their own terms at some point, and it is 3/1 with the bookies they do so following their Nigeria trip."
