Virgin Media boost offers 11 new channels for free - check your TV today

If you’re a Virgin Media customer and you’re looking for something new to watch on TV then you’re in luck. The UK TV provider has added 11 new channels you can tune into and watch today, and the best part is they are all completely free and come to you at no extra cost.

The new channels are part of Virgin’s collection FAST channels, which stands for Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV - just like with ITV1 or Channel 4, you have to watch ad breaks, but that keeps these channels free-to-air. You can now tune in to hit programmes such as Big Zuu’s Big Eats, Flipping Bangers, Garage Squad, and even a live Mariah Carey concert.

Virgin says the new channels will be automatically added to Virgin TV 360, Stream, and V6 set-top boxes. They should appear in your TV guide when you hit the button on your remote, ready to watch.

FAST channels are beamed into your home over a broadband connection via your Virgin box, but the content is not on demand. Instead, it follows linear scheduling just like traditional TV channels.

The new channels include History Hunters, which will show programmes with Tony Robinson, Professor Alice Robertson, and Ross Kemp, Deal Hunters, where you can catch Flipping Bangers and Garage Squad, and Real Crime, where you’ll be treated to a slew of true crime tales.

Here’s the full list of new channels coming to Virgin Media TV customers:

  • History Hunters (A+E Networks)
  • Deal Masters (A+E Networks)
  • Qello Concerts (Stingray)
  • Trace Sports Stars (Trace)
  • Real Crime (Little Dot Studios)
  • Real Life (Little Dot Studios)
  • ZenLIFE (Stingray)
  • UKTV Play Laughs (UKTV)
  • UKTV Play Heroes (UKTV)
  • UKTV Play Full Throttle (UKTV)
  • UKTV Play Uncovered (UKTV)

Those 11 take the total number of Virgin Media FAST channels up to 30.

“The introduction of these fantastic new streaming channels demonstrates our ambition to continue enhancing our entertainment offering, giving our customers even more choice and 24/7 access to their favourite shows,” said David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2.

“Having launched 30 streaming channels in the last year alone, we are constantly striving to offer our customers even more entertainment, providing them with easy access to shows we know they’ll love, at no extra cost.”

Virgin Media seems to be in the mood to give its customers free upgrades. The broadband and TV firm recently started offering its internet customers a new ‘smart support service’ to monitor issues and try to fix them automatically.
