WEC LIVE: Imola 6 Hours gets underway with Ferrari locking out front row | F1 | Sport

The FIA World Endurance Championship Imola 6 hours kicks off today at Imola. For six hours, 37 cars will pound around one of the world's most iconic circuits. Ferrari is on pole for today's race in their 499P ahead of its two sister cars.

The WEC is split into two classes of cars, Hypercar and LMGT3. Hyercars are finely tuned, specially built prototypes with bespoke bodywork, big wings, and hybrid engines.

LMGT3 cars are modified versions of road-going supercars like the Porsche 911, Aston Martin Vantage and Ferrari 296 GTB.

This is the second round of the World Endurance Championship after the 1812KM of Qatar earlier this year which saw Kevin Estre, Andre Lotterer, and Laurens Vanthoor take victory in their Porsche 963 Hypercar.
