I tasted Jeremy Clarkson's new products – one was bizarre | UK | News

Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm launches today with highlights including Jeremy attempting to work the land from scratch in a bet.

Kaleb Cooper, 25, who took on the farmed half of the land to settle who could make the most money, revealed: “I am never going to forget coming up the drive and Jeremy is just hoovering a hedge.

“I thought, ‘You know what? I do not have the energy to stop and ask what you are doing’.”

Fans love their bickering partnership but Kaleb, who started farming aged 12, has some praise for Jeremy, 64.

Clarkson’s Farm Series 3 launches today on Prime Video (Image: AMAZON PRIME )

He said: “With the pigs, I thought, ‘Here is another thing I will have to babysit.’ But actually he is a really good pig farmer.”

The first four new episodes also show the motoring journalist battling a heatwave, inflation and his nemeses on the local council – nearly losing his shop on-site in Chadlington, Oxon.

But following a good potato crop, Jeremy is launching a new range on Amazon Fresh, including Diddly Squat Ready Salted Crisps and Bee Juice honey.

The final episodes are released on Prime Video next Friday, and bashful Jeremy said: “It’s a very heartwarming programme, it’s funny, it’s informative. It’s charming.”

Diddly Squat Farm Shop, opened in 2020 by Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan, stocks goods produced on-site or by neighbouring businesses in the Cotswolds.

Its opening featured in the first series of Clarkson’s Farm and the farm shop became a destination for fans across the globe.

And now, the Daily Express has test-tasted some of the farm’s latest product range.

Diddly Squat Farm Hand-Cooked Crisps 40g (ready-salted flavour) £1.70

Wow! These crips actually taste like potatoes. You can almost sense the earthy Cotswolds soil emanating from beneath them with every last morsel.

I took little convincing to devour the entire bag, which also comes in impressive quality packaging with a handy “how to open” note.

A nod to their crunch factor and texture but for me, the flavour was slightly plain, which is the only thing that lets them down. A solid effort and worth any family gathering or party with friends.

An overall thumbs up!

The sweetness of this drink hits you first. It is pleasant enough… (Image: JONATHAN BUCKMASTER)

Diddly Squat Farm Apple and Nettle Juice 250ml £2.40

I’m all up for unconventional pairings and trying something new. Chilli with cheese is a tantalising treat – wildberry jus with game is an indulgent delight.

But there are some things which do not belong together.

And now, thanks to Jeremy Clarkson, nettles and apples can be added to that list.

The sweetness of this drink hits you first. It is pleasant enough…

But then comes the bizarre aftertaste – reminiscent of lawn cuttings on a hot summer’s day – which then sticks to the back of the throat like goosegrass.

Yuck… might be a tad harsh. Perhaps an acquired taste, it’s certainly not for me.

Sorry, Jezza.

This homemade honey lacks a sting in the tail (Image: JONATHAN BUCKMASTER)

Bee Juice Honey 546g £12.00

This homemade honey lacks a sting in the tail and fails to deliver above and beyond your everyday sweet fare.

Kudos to Clarkson for dabbling in apiculture – and very much suffering for his craft in the process. (An attack on the backside sounds particularly rough.)

But I’m not sure what makes this distinctly average product worth the hype.

It should be mentioned of all these products that their high price reflects the difficulties facing all UK farmers in turning a profit by selling high-quality goods.

Look, it’s not awful by any standards but it’s not going to set the world on fire.

It packs a punch in terms of flavour and is bound to satisfy firecracker-lovers (Image: JONATHAN BUCKMASTER )

Ghost Chilli Chutney 180g £6.50

It packs a punch in terms of flavour and is bound to satisfy firecracker-lovers like me.

But it lacks the proper texture of a chutney – it’s sloppy and thin – and it needs a much better accompaniment than Jeremy’s farm shop crips, for sure!

The chilli kick was powerful and I’d be tempted to try it with cheddar.

Watch out this might blow your head off so have a glass of milk handy if you are more of a korma fan than a vindaloo lover
