There's a big broadband price war going on right now and it's good news for your bills. BT has just announced a huge sale event which has slashed the price of some of its most popular plans including the ultimate Ultrafast option. This service, which offers speeds in excess of 850Mbps, usually costs a hefty £59.99 per month but those currently signing up can get that cost reduced to just £49.99 - that's a massive saving of £240 over the term of the contract.

BT has also scrapped its usual upfront fees meaning there's nothing to pay when joining the Internet Service Provider. If 900Mbps sounds too much for your needs then there are plenty more discounts on offer including 300Mbps for £34.99 - was £44.99 and more basic 74Mbps downloads for £29.99 - was £36.99.

All of those plans feature BT's speed guarantee although you will need to sign a two-year contract to take advantage. They are certainly decent deals but one of BT's biggest rivals is going one better.

Sky has also unleashed a bunch of broadband bargains with many undercutting BT's plans on price. For example, Sky's Gigafast plan with 900 Mbps speeds is now just £42 - that's £7 less than BT.

Opt for the firm's Ultra+ plan and you'll pay £34 per month that's less than BT wants for its slower 300Mbps speeds.

Other deals from Sky include the Ultrafast service (145Mbps speeds) for £28 per month and basic 61Mbps for £28 per month.

Just like BT, Sky isn't charging a set-up fee. The only major difference is that all of Sky's options are based on an 18-month contract rather than two years.

One thing you must remember is that both firms have confirmed that prices will rise next spring so make sure you factor that in before signing any contracts.
